I’m very sorry to hear the sad news about Barney McKenna, a great man, great musician, great story teller and all round legend.

My thoughts and prayers are with his friends, family and band mates at this sad time.

RIP Barney McKenna x

Sad indeed, and also this past week, may I point out the passing of The Band’s drummer/vocalist Levon Helm, the sax/flutist from 80’s band Men at Work (his name escapes me at the moment), and the legendary Dick Clark creator of The Golden Globe Awards, American Music Awards, American Country Music Awards, and of course American Bandstand – which was a launch pad for many a career in music. R.I.P. to all.

I remember seeing Barney in a night club in Dublin at least 45 years ago playing Bach on the banjo, as well as with the Dubliners many times since, including a couple of times in Brecon, where I also saw and fell in love with Imelda. The music goes on.

saw the Bexhill video’s, you look fantastic Imelda, wish I could have held my weight down like you have, you have only gained a baby. I gained an army. Good you are so active, make the birth much easier if you are healthy and in shape. You look in top notch condition to all of us here in Canada. Love to you all.

saw Imelda at Royal Albert Hall.
She is the best female entertainer out there she is like a rocking Patsy Cline.Quality voice yet edgy.
Her band are the bussiness too.
its sad the music Industry made her wait so long before success.

In response to GMC,it wasn’t the industry who made her wait, it was Imelda herself who stalled her career as far as becoming an international success years ago. In a few interviews she has stated that she was approached a few times by record companies, but they wanted her to be more of a pop idol and take the quick road to fame and fortune, and she adamantly refused. That decision eventually led to some hard times for her and Darrel, but having integrity and principles speaks volumes to the character that Imelda has. In her own words she would rather put in the hard work, the blood sweat and tears and make music that she feels comfortable producing from her heart and soul. Keep up the good fight my dear and stay tuff !
